There's lots of room to play around with this image; i'm hoping to get a second (and much larger) one done, and i'll be digging out the old gold leaf for that one.
So I won't expect it to be done in a hurry.
Anyhoo i'll leave you with the finished piece and also a few progress shots, taken at random intervals to hopefully try and show my particular working habits.
Which, quite frankly, are obscure and unstructured, as I tend to leap about a piece blindly with only a vague idea of where i'm heading.(Even the rare occasions when I do know what I want it to be, it tends to disregard my wishes, turning out just as it pleases. I swear it's the brush controlling me, not the other way round..)

LOVELY :D I like the idea of the ouroboros
ReplyDeletethe colors looks great, what techinic do you used?
Thanks, I like to layer colours; so lots of individual washes for the scales, and a series of wet on wet sploshes for the background. Ink was used for the linework.
ReplyDeleteI love the fact you do this by hand. So many use photoshop(or something similar) to add the textures. Nothing wrong with that ofcorse, but it's so much more impressive by hand! :) Lovely.
ReplyDeleteHehe, i'm terrible with Photoshop/Painter anyway, I never really got round to learning to paint digitally(so lazy). Besides, there is something just so magical about having an original piece!
ReplyDeleteMost definitely!! I don't know how to paint digitally either, but I prefer using real paint and materials anyway, that way you get a bit messy. :D
ReplyDeleteWOnderful, i do love the colours you use in your work. My way of working is so similar i tend to jump about all over lol, it s the pixies at work! I agree with above comments, hand done will always be the top of the list for me. Hope all is good with you and yours x
