Afternoon Tea and Biscuits

Just what I fancy, really!  Mmm, cherry biscuits...

Actually spent a ridiculous amount of time desperately trying to get the colours as close to the original as humanly possible.  The teapot is slightly whiter and the tablecloth is less yellow...ah, perhaps i'm far too fussy!

Java Dragon

A small piece, measuring 11x13cm.  If your like me and enjoy making coffee from fresh beans instead of drinking instant, you may have one of these miniscule caffeine loving critters paying little visits to your store.  Beware though, they're terrible for hoarding the beans!

A Travelling Mouse

Just a quick small piece, featuring a slightly larger than normal mousie, trotting on his merry way to who knows where?  Being such an Autumn fan nearly all my art tends to be biased towards that season(all the lovely leaves and berries!), so i'm having a go at something more summery.  I was actually flicking through my copy of Wind in the Willows illustrated by Arthur Rackham and I enjoyed the way he depicted the summer scenes, with  yellowy brown tones rather than any bright colours and deep greens you would normally find.  It gave a sort of dry, scorched, end of summer feel to the pictures.  I was hoping to try that technique here - but I rather failed!

Lots of pen and ink and watercolour, some colour pencil.

Sneaky Fairies In Disguise

I'm feeling quite queasy right now, having just devoured a plateful of home made fried fish and chips...
Ahem.
Anyway, here are some fairies fooling no one with their mushroom disguises.  These fairies must have forgotten that humans generally aren't accustomed to observing mushrooms sporting pairs of arms and legs, let alone walking.
Pitt artist pens(they're great for drawing small detail without the ink blobbing), a touch of colour pencils and watercolour on Arches cold pressed, which i'm trying to use up.
Measures about15x25cm.  After i'd finished it occured to me that it looked very much like something one might hang up on a nursery wall, as if they were quietly trying to sneak past without waking the baby...

Leave Poor Old Mr Owl Alone!

Just finished this - A poor old owl being taunted by some naughty fairies.
24x28cm, Saunders hot pressed paper, watercolour, pen and ink and colour pencil.

I think i'm getting better at editing art on Photoshop - this looks practically the same as the real piece.  For some reason it seems my scanner isn't so good at picking up yellows, so oranges turn out faded or a little on the red side.  High time I saved up for a new one anyway!
This painting will be available in my Etsy shop.
